OMAR HASSAN WILL SHOW HIS ART IN ST. MORITZ: OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION ON 25 JANUARY 2025

The prestigious Alpine scenery of St. Moritz is preparing to welcome one of the most relevant figures on the contemporary artistic scene: Omar Hassan. The Italian-Egyptian artist, famous for his innovative and powerful visual language, will inaugurate his new exhibition Ramp Lights on January 25, 2025 at GALLARIA SONNE.

The exhibition will present a selection of artworks that embody Hassan’s poetics and vision. Through unique techniques such as Punching Canvas and Spray Paint inspired by contemporary dynamism and the elegance of classical art, the artist explores universal themes such as strength, time and collective identity.

Omar Hassan’s art is a dialogue between energy and harmony that makes him one of the most influential artists of his generation. Born in Milan to an Italian mother and an Egyptian father, his work stands out for its ability to combine seemingly opposite worlds, combining the expressive strength of boxing(boxe) and the delicacy of painting. With different exhibitions in the world’s major art capitals, Hassan continues to leave an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene.

The artworks from the Breaking Through series are literally made with punches and boxing gloves soaked in acrylic, they do not break, they do not destroy, but they create. “I’m not punching to destroy, I’m creating!” is one of Omar Hassan’s mantras.

The artworks from the Lights series are real lights that emerge from the darkness. Lights to follow as a symbol of rebirth.

Hassan is obsessed in a positive way with the passing of time: this intangible constant that passes over us, but which, in fact, we do not see… “tracing time to leave something in time that lasts beyond my time. And only art allows this!”. This theme is shown in the series of large canvases Time Lines.

Among the artist’s latest exhibitions we highlight the creation of “Exit Lights”, a gigantic 9 meter canvas at Malpensa airport, the solo exhibition “Punctum” at Palazzo Reale in Palermo, the exhibition “Quarta Civitas” at Nuvola Museo Lavazza in Turin and the solo exhibition “Il Mondo è N(V)ostro” at the Fondazione delle Stelline in Milan.

An event born from the idea of Gian Enrico Gilardi in collaboration with Vitart Fine Arts Lugano who chose Silvaplana at the Gallaria Sonne in Val Engadina, as an exclusive and reference place for the winter season. The exhibition will be open to the public until 23 February 2025.
